SEQUOIA HILLY METRIC CENTURY RIDE 4 June 2006

How it unfolded

On a bright cool morning we started our Sequoia 110k hilly ride at 7:50am from Veterans Palo Alto. The first few miles of the ride was fairly flat on Foothill Expressway that turn into Stevens Canyon Rd. where the ride starts to ascend gradually, then we turn to Redwood Gulch, a short 2.17km but very nasty climb with a 21% max gradient. To tough that some riders have to walked their bike (kasama ako doon:) We continue riding uphill on Big Basin Way to Saratoga Gap for our 1st rest stop. From Skyline rolling hills we went south to Bear Creek Road down to Hwy 9, where we turned right, going north, back to Saratoga Gap. This is a long uphill climb back to the rest stop, about 16km (ang habang ahon). After our last rest stop we continued our ride north on Skyline, to Page Mill Road, back to Veterans. The ride has a total of 6200ft. of climbing.
